Supergoop! is a brand focusing solely on protection from the sun and we are super fans of their mission. Their super broad spectrum sun defense philosophy helped them create products like their Everyday with Cellular Response Technology sunscreen, which not only protects against the harmful rays of the sun, but also helps heal previous damage already done. Bonus: you don’t end up with a white residue like many sunscreens give you. Their products soak into the skin to not only protect but moisturize as well.
Because melanoma runs in my family, I’m keenly aware of the effects the sun can have on your skin. Skin cancer is more common than any other form of cancer, even though it’s preventable if you take the right steps of protection. On the Supergoop! website, their “Sun 101” section helps you understand what the sun’s rays are doing to your skin in a broken-down, easy to read format (who doesn’t love infographics?). What makes this sunscreen different than all others is that it is “Super-Broad Spectrum”. Most people have heard that you should always buy broad spectrum sunscreen because of it’s protection against UVA and UVB rays. But Supergoop! has formulated sunscreen to be Super-Broad Spectrum, which means it protects against UVA, UVB, and IRA (Infrared rays).
As an outdoor enthusiast, though, it’s hard to remember to apply sunscreen when you’re on the go or in the middle of a climb or halfway through a hike. Supergoop! protects your active-lifestyle skin and is also water resistant for all those rafters, kayakers, and surfers in all of us. Heath and I use it religiously at work AND at play.
Although they have products suitable for all walks of life and ages, my absolute wear-it-everyday-of-my-life favorite product is the Defying Sunscreen Oil with Meadowfoam SPF 50. This blend of moisturizing oils (meadowfoam seed and argon) helps make your sun-dried skin supple and soft again. The moisturizing effects of this product help reverse the signs of aging and neutralize UV-induced free radicals–not to mention that it’s SPF 50.
Heath uses the Everyday sunscreen when he’s working outside everyday, and the Defying Sunscreen Oil during long events outside like Harescrambles.
